In 2009, there were 807 Arizona car accident related deaths recorded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which is fourteen percent lower than the previous year when 938 deaths occurred. While we wait for the actual count for 2010, we can expect numbers to be lower than that of 2009, but still not as low as we want it to be.
The same holds true with car crash related injuries. On a national scale, the number of injured victims has decreased more than 110 thousand, reflecting a – 6.9 percent change. Regardless of the positive change, the number of people injured in vehicle crashes still reached more than 1.5 million.
Contributing to accident figures for this year, an ambulance was hit after two vehicles collided in a Glendale car accident last Friday afternoon (AZ Central 1/21/2011).
The Southwest Ambulance, which according to police was at a stop sign when the car crash happened, got involved when one of the vehicles of an earlier collision veered into the intersection of 59th and Hayward avenues, slightly hitting it.
Two people suffered minor injuries and were sent to the hospital for treatment. The ambulance crew members were thankfully, unhurt, and they were not carrying any patients at the time of the accident.
