Intersection Accident

Sedona Car Accident Shuts Down Intersection

As experienced Arizona intersection accident lawyers, we understand the gravity of accidents that block streets and close down highways. Our hearts go out to those involved in the serious accident that occurred on 6th Street on February 29, according to the Verde Independent. The crash occurred when a pickup truck and van collided in the intersection of State Road 89 and 6th Street.

According to police, the impact caused the airbags in both vehicles to deploy. Despite this, the driver of the pickup truck was taken to the hospital due to neck, head, and spinal injuries. The condition of the driver in the van is unknown. No official reports on the cause of the accident have been released and police are still investigating, though it appears that neither driver was impaired at the time of the accident. Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone.

How Does a Sedona Car Accident Happen?

This Sedona car accident deserves thorough investigation. According to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), only five percent of all accidents that occur each year in Arizona are the result of impaired driving, and nearly 100,000 accidents have no link to improper actions on the part of either driver. These statistics make it even more important to remember that sometimes accidents are truly accidents. While you may not be able to avoid all collisions, you can reduce your risk of being involved in a car crash by keeping safety in mind every time you get behind the wheel.

Mesa Car Accidents Potentially Reduced By Traffic Cameras

Arizona Car Accident CameraAs Mesa car accident attorneys, we know how much traffic cameras bother some drivers. They issue tickets without any sort of public relations attempts and without allowing drivers to share their side of the story. However, they may also help reduce the number of drivers who break the law, such as speeding and running red lights.

They also help police by allowing them to review crash footage when Arizona intersection accidents occur. Recently, the city of Mesa decided to keep the cameras in place for at least two more years, according to AZ Central. However, the city council will continue discussing alternatives in attempt to make the cameras more cost effective.

Mesa Car Accident Information

The high number of Mesa car accidents that occurred in 2005 was what prompted the city council to install the cameras in 2006. At that time, there was more than one traffic fatality per week, totaling 64 fatalities in one year alone. The council put cameras in intersections around schools after one teen was killed by a distracted driver. In total, crashes at intersections with cameras have been cut nearly in half, dropping from 694 in 2005 to 370 in 2010.

Changes to the Mesa Car Accident Camera Program

There will be some changes to the Mesa car accident cameras this year to alleviate some of the complaints from the public. These changes include:

  • More cameras near schools.
  • Allowing public to register complaints or get information about camera-issued tickets.
  • Two cameras will be made available to neighborhoods with speeding complaints.
  • There will be a computer where drivers can review the camera footage.

Sierra Vista Car Accident Seriously Injures 52-Year-Old Woman

As Sierra Vista car accident attorneys, we were very sorry to hear about the serious injuries that a 52-year-old woman sustained on Saturday, February 4, 2012 after her car collided with a 2011 Ford F250 pickup, according to a news report published in the Sierra Vista Herald. She was driving a 2003 Toyota Corolla, and the crash occurred at the intersection of Charleston Road and Colombo Avenue at about 8 a.m. The woman had to be airlifted to a Tucson hospital. It is unclear whether the other driver was injured. We wish the woman a speedy and full recovery.

Causes of This Sierra Vista Car Accident

It is unclear what caused this Sierra Vista car accident, and police are asking witnesses to call Officer Darryl Scott at (520) 452-7500 with any information. When crashes occur at intersections, it is possible it happens when one driver failed to yield to another during a left turn, or when someone runs a red light. These Arizona intersection accidents can result in serious injuries, as is apparent in this crash. It is also more dangerous when a larger vehicle, like the pickup truck, crashes into a smaller passenger car, which is lighter and lower to the ground.

Sierra Vista Car Accident Statistics

There were 756 Sierra Vista car accidents in 2010, which left one dead and 284 injured, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT). Thirty-four of the crashes were alcohol-related. Pickup trucks and vans were involved in 39,571 crashes in the state that same year, and passenger cars were involved in 136,850 crashes.

Five Injured in Scottsdale Car Accident

Five people were injured in an Arizona car accident that resulted in one vehicle rolling over. According to an ABC 15 news report, the Scottsdale injury car accident occurred at the intersection of 70th Street and Shea Boulevard. Five people were hospitalized after the multi-vehicle crash with non-life-threatening injuries. It is unclear at this time what caused the four vehicles to collide or why one of the vehicles rolled over. An investigation is underway.

Common causes of Arizona intersection accidents include drunk driving (ARS Title 28, Chapter 4), failing to obey traffic signals (ARS 28-644) and speeding (ARS 28-701). Drivers who are cited or criminally charged by authorities for causing an accident can also be held civilly liable for the injuries, damages and losses caused. A negligent driver does not, however, have to be cited by the authorities to be held civilly liable for an accident. Victims of negligent drivers in Arizona may pursue compensation for the damages they have suffered by filing a personal injury claim.

It is common for crashes involving multiple vehicles to become a complicated mess for the injured victim. Insurance companies commonly deny claims or pass the blame and drivers often refuse to accept responsibility. In such cases, it may be in the best interest of the injured victim to seek the counsel of a skilled personal injury attorney to ensure that his or her rights are protected.

The experienced Scottsdale intersection accident attorneys of The Breyer Law Offices P.C. help injured victims receive compensation for losses sustained in a car accident including all medical expenses and lost earnings.
