Phoenix construction accident lawyers are extremely concerned about the high incidence of injuries and fatalities related to falls at work sites, particularly those that involve loose or unstable scaffolding. Officials at a construction site are currently investigating a worker’s 15-foot fall from a scaffold. According to a news report in the Pioneer Press, the man remains in critical condition after he sustained significant head injuries. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating the incident as well. The injured construction worker was apparently an employee of a masonry subcontractor. The extent of the worker’s injuries or his current condition is not known.
A number of construction workers nationwide get injured or killed each year as a result of loose scaffolding or lack of adequate fall safety protection systems while working on scaffolding. It is the employer’s responsibility to make sure that workers have been properly trained and provide a safe work environment. A big part of that effort, especially at a construction site, is to make sure that OSHA safety standards are followed with respect to scaffolding, equipment, ladders and trenches. These guidelines are there for a reason. Such tragic accidents and devastating injuries can be easily prevented by following basic safety standards.
