The Husband and Wife Law Team present Teacher Appreciation Award
Phoenix, AZ - In an auditorium filled with singing children, Phoenix attorney Mark Breyer stood to personally recognize one teacher that is going above and beyond for her students.
Shana Myers, a third-grade teacher at Four Peaks Elementary in Apache Junction, was surprised to receive February’s Teacher Appreciation Award from Breyer Law Offices, P.C.
You could hear the excitement - with an audible wave of surprise from the assembled students - as Breyer announced the $250 prize.
"Your teachers don’t just spend time with you in the classroom," Breyer explained to the energized children. "My mom and both of my sisters are public school teachers, so I know how hard they work."
"Only one teacher makes us say, this is the teacher of the month," said Breyer. "And the teacher of the month, for the entire Phoenix metropolitan area, is Ms. Myers!"
Shana Myers: Teaching with Technology, and Teamwork
This month, the winning nomination highlighted the excellent use of technology in the classroom. In this amazing space, Shana Myers helps her students create digital presentations, Skype with other countries, and maintain a classroom blog.
The nomination distinguishes Myers’ personal patience and dedication to the job. "She is [the students’] personal cheerleader and will be right there with her students until they get the right answer," wrote the anonymous nomination. "She is always taking the extra time to explain why, instead of just saying things are right or wrong and that's it."
The nomination continues, "Ms. Myers is a third grade teacher who goes above and beyond for her students. She is usually the first one at school in the morning, and last to leave in the evening. We have even seen her there on Sundays."
"Our son hated going to school until this year. He is always excited to see what new science experiment they will be doing or what state/country they will Skype with each week."
Giving back to the teachers that give the most
The Teacher Appreciation Award highlights one amazing teacher each month. The prize - $250, a special plaque and a pizza party for his or her classroom - is a way for the law firm to appreciate the hard work put in by teachers across the state. The nominations for the Teacher Appreciation Award are always accepted at the Breyer’s website, http://www.breyerlaw.com/lawyers-for-teachers.html. Nominations are ongoing, and may be made for any teacher that deserves special recognition.
Three years ago, the Breyers started the Teacher Appreciation Program as a way to give back to deserving educators, Valley-wide. The program has grown over the years, and the law firm has recognized excellent teachers from all ends of the Valley.
Mark Breyer admits that selecting one winner, each month, from hundreds of nominations is a challenge. "It’s really tough," he said.
As parents of their own eight children, the Breyers appreciate the impact a good teacher makes on the lives of their students. This program is their way of thanking all teachers for the challenging work they do.
