#ArriveAlive to Prom!

By Breyer Law Offices on April 1, 2018

Prom is an exciting time with great traditions surrounding it. There’s shopping for the dress, getting your hair done, picking out the flowers, and then, of course, wearing that perfect dress and feeling glamorous in it for an entire evening. Today, there are also prom proposals, which can sometimes be even more exciting than the event itself! When it’s time, pictures are taken, corsages and boutonnieres are placed, and everyone gets ready for the big night ahead.

But there are some other traditions that take place before and after prom that involve drinking. And this can be particularly dangerous.

Most teens have heard about the dangers of drinking and driving, but still 84% say that they’d rather drive drunk than call their parents and get in trouble for underage drinking, according to a study done by Liberty Mutual. The odds of that happening are (unfortunately) good, since 54% of teens admitting to drinking four or more beverages at their prom, according to the same study.

As parents ourselves, we want to stress this to you—it’s better to call your parents and suffer their disappointment than take a chance on the road after drinking. We’ve seen too many sad stories; these accidents are a waste of our young, bright, and talented next generation.

Take a Stand, Win a Scholarship!

Here at Breyer Law Offices, P.C., we’re thinking a lot about teen drinking and driving this time of year. And we do more than hope that everyone will come away from prom night with only good memories.

We’re working hard to solve the problem of teen drinking and driving throughout Arizona by offering five scholarships to five teens dedicated to stop this epidemic.

Want to know how you could win?

All you have to do is write an essay, create a video, or otherwise use your imagination to convey the idea of “Arrive Alive: Taking a Stand Against Reckless/Drunk Driving.” Tell us how you plan to take a stand, on prom night and every other time of the year, and how you hope to encourage your friends not to drink and drive. Just show us your dedication to the idea of arriving alive to anywhere you plan on going.

We know that adults are the ones constantly bombarding teens with the dangers of drinking and driving. But we also know that the only ones who can really stop drinking and driving are teens themselves.

So maybe you want to make a video of your alcohol-free prom afterparty. Or how you and your friends are celebrating alcohol-free as you get ready for prom, slipping into those perfect shoes and getting your hair done. The canvas is yours; we just want you to get creative and tell us how and why you’re taking a stand against this dangerous phenomenon that’s sweeping our country.

Get really creative with it, and you could win yourself a scholarship towards your future! For more details, visit out Arrive Alive scholarship page!
