Airline Goes Above and Beyond to Help a Family in Time of Need
With all of the recent stories in the media about “flights gone bad” and passengers being treated unfairly, it is important for us to recognize the good deeds that often don’t get the same attention.
Peggy Uhle had just boarded her flight from Chicago to Columbus and settled into her seat while getting ready for take-off. The plane started to taxi onto the runway. No one on the plane knew what was happening when the plane stopped and started to make its way back to the gate. A flight attendant approached Peggy and at first, Peggy thought she must have boarded the wrong flight. That wasn’t the case. Peggy’s son had been in a serious accident and was in a coma in Colorado. Peggy’s family was unable to reach her since she turned her cell phone off while on the plane, so her husband called Southwest Airlines directly. Not only did Southwest Airlines stop the plane and return to the gate, the airline immediately put Peggy on a flight to Colorado right way, free of charge.
After the flight, Peggy told BoardingArea.com, “My luggage was delivered to where I was staying, and I even received a call from Southwest asking how my son was doing.” With the help of the airline, Peggy was able to be with her family and travel to her son in his time of need. Today, her son has made a complete recovery from his serious head injury and the Uhles are forever grateful for the service they received from Southwest Airlines.
