az adhs program | Phoenix Personal Injury Law Blog
Arizona exceeds the national average for injuries, which prompted the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) to partner with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to develop a program designed to prevent injuries. This program has four major objectives:
- Identify injury issues and determine specific needs for programs and policies designed to prevent injuries.
- Stay abreast of developments in the injury prevention field.
- Understand how injury prevention fits in with the responsibilities of other Arizona agencies.
- Support injury prevention activities within the state of Arizona.
Since its implementation in 2000, this program has led to several achievements. The Arizona Department of Health Services published the “Arizona Injury Surveillance and Prevention Plan” report covering the period from 2006 to 2010. ADHS also appointed an external injury prevention advisory council and started an internal injury prevention work group. The program also aims to develop relationships with local councils and community coalitions designed to spread information about injury prevention.
