The Husband & Wife Law Team Honors Phoenix Teacher Merrideth George as April's Teacher of the Month

Teacher Appreciation Contest

In light of Teacher Appreciation Week, The Husband & Wife Law Team, Phoenix personal injury attorneys Mark and Alexis Breyer, are happy to announce their latest Teacher of the Month, Ms. Merrideth George of Roadrunner Elementary School!

For the Husband & Wife Law Team, teacher appreciation is not limited to one week in May; they have founded an appreciation program that runs throughout the entire school year, and every month awards one lucky teacher $250 and a pizza party.

Time to Show Appreciation

The principal, superintendent, and even staff from the school district came out to the big surprise presentation. Mark walked into the classroom and the students, many of whom were donning their Roadrunner tee shirts, were very well behaved.

Nominations for Ms. George praised her communication skills, dedication to her classroom, students and school. Even Mark commented, "Ms. George’s classroom is the most well-behaved class I’ve ever seen!" After the presentation, the students could hardly contain their excitement; many students went up to give their teacher a well-deserved hug.

Principal, Paula McWhirter was thrilled that Ms. George won this month’s award. She was also able to keep the winner of the award secret until the very last minute! None of the other staff members knew who the winner was until they showed up at Ms. George’s classroom door.

Ms. George was very surprised, and honored with the award. Ms. George has been with the Washington Elementary School District for over six years, and has been teaching Kindergarten and First grade at Roadrunner for the past two years.

Giving So Freely

Teachers often go unrecognized for the hard work and dedication they put into their students and classrooms. Unfortunately, due to economic factors and budget cuts, schools cannot always provide all the supplies that teachers need for their classrooms.

Numerous studies have found that the average elementary teacher will spend well over $400 a year of their own money for classroom supplies, books and other materials.

Supporting teachers and students is near and dear to the Breyers,’ as Mark’s mother and sister are both teachers.

"I grew up seeing the importance of teachers in communities and saw first-hand how they give so freely, so their students can thrive," said Mark Breyer.
