Congratulations to our May Teacher Appreciation Winner: Joe Wolverton

Teacher Appreciation Contest

With the help of the principal, Kathleen Lopez, at Heritage Academy - Gateway, The Husband and Wife Law Team surprised a wonderful and deserving recipient with their monthly Teacher Appreciation Award. Joe Wolverton was surprised in front of the selecting seniors that had nominated him. A group of students came together to submit multiple nominations for Joe. The seniors waited in the hall, as Joe entered he was greeted with a loud round of applause. He was in complete shock. Mark expressed the importance of how much teachers do, but how few of them actually get the recognition they deserve. Mark and the seniors truly made Joe feel special with how personal the surprise was. Mark surprised Joe with a check in the amount of $250.00, a plaque for his classroom, and a few more surprises! He joked around and was even more excited when he was told that she would be featured on The Husband and Wife billboards throughout the Valley for a day. But the surprises didn’t stop there. Not only was he awarded $250.00 and an appreciation plaque, but Mark also rewarded Joe and the seniors with a pizza and ice cream party!

Joe Wolverton, Heritage Academy - Gateway

Joe Wolverton, born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science at Brigham Young University in 1995. After college, he returned home where he attended law school. In 2001, he earned his Juris Doctorate and practiced law as a constitutional attorney until 2009. Joe traveled nationwide sharing his education with others, not only as a public speaker, but as a writer for the New American magazine as well. Despite his many career paths he was presented with, he has always believed that he was born to be a teacher. He began his teaching career as a professor of American government at the high school and college level. While a professor at Chattanooga State, he was chosen as professor of the semester four times in a row by students in the Department of Social Sciences. He truly loves what he does. Joe, and his life, Kylee, are happy to call Arizona home and he is honored to be a part of the extraordinary faculty at Heritage Academy – Gateway.

How can you reward your favorite teacher? It’s simple!

All too often great teachers go unrecognized for the hard work and dedication they pour into the classroom. The Breyer’s Teacher Appreciation Award aims to give credit where it is due, by rewarding one amazing teacher each month.

Mark and Alexis, successful attorneys and parents to 8 children, know the impact a great teacher makes. “I grew up seeing the importance of teachers in communities, and saw firsthand how they give so freely, so their students can thrive,” said Mark Breyer.

Anyone can nominate a deserving teacher online, by filling out an entry form at https://www.breyerlaw.com/lawyers-for-teachers/.
